Accessibility Statement

Last updated: August 20, 2026

Thomas Edison Electric is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe every customer should be able to find an electrician, book service, and get help in an emergency, regardless of how they browse the web.

Our standard

We work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are the widely recognized standard for making web content accessible to people with a range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

What we've done

Our website has been built and tested with accessibility in mind:

  • Keyboard navigation — interactive elements, including menus, forms, and buttons, can be operated without a mouse.
  • Screen reader support — semantic page structure, descriptive headings, and alternative text for meaningful images.
  • Color contrast — text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast requirements.
  • Readable text — text resizes without loss of content or function, and we avoid conveying information by color alone.
  • Consistent structure — predictable navigation and clearly labeled links and form fields across the site.
  • Automated and manual testing — accessibility checks are part of how we build and update the site.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time project. We review new pages and features as they are added, and we work to correct issues as we find them. Some content — including documents, embedded third-party tools such as our online scheduler, and older content — may not yet fully meet our target standard. We are working to improve these areas.

Third-party content

Some features of our site rely on third-party services (for example, our online scheduling tool and embedded maps). We do not control the accessibility of third-party content, but we choose vendors with accessibility in mind and will help you complete any task by phone if a third-party tool creates a barrier.

We want to hear from you

If you have difficulty using any part of our website, or if you encounter a barrier, please tell us. Your feedback helps us fix real problems.

Please include the page address, a description of the problem, and how we can reach you. We aim to respond within five (5) business days.
